ANIMAL IN THE LAND
Millions of years ago, all animals on Earth were aquatic and lived in water, such as in the oceans. Then, around 425 million years ago, terrestrial animals began to colonize the land. The word terrestrial comes from Latin terrestris (earthly) and -alis (of), which together mean ''of the earth.'' When something is terrestrial, its life cycle is bound to the land. A pine tree is terrestrial because its primary habitat is on land. Terrestrial plants include many trees, flowering plants, and bushes. Water lilies are not terrestrial because they live in the water. Terrestrial animals, like terrestrial plants, also spend most of their lives on land.
List of Animals on Land
Some examples of terrestrial land animals include beetles, lizards, kangaroos, tigers, lions, wolves, dogs, and zebras. Although terrestrial animals primarily spend their lives on the land, they may also live in the soil, sand, or trees. And even though terrestrial animals are bound to land biomes, some may get their food from water sources, such as grizzly bears fishing for salmon.
